If you are needing a sine wave generator that allows you to sweep at will though the audible frequency range…. no installation.

Update …

Why use a sine wave sweep generator ?

This is a fairly non technical way of measuring the modal response of your room by sweeping thru the frequency range (20Hz to 20KHz) and checking each frequencies Sound Pressure Level with a decibel meter… where you notice a dramatic increase in level you are measuring a positive modal amplification of that frequency… where you notice a dramatic decrease in level you are measuring a modal cancellation of that frequency.

What its good for: This is a good method of determining the frequency response of the sound environment at a particular point in the room… especially low frequencies (20Hz to 250Hz)…

You may notice level changes in excess of 10dB if you are in a problematic environment and you may be able to improve the situation by moving the speaker positions… often this will change the amplitude or position of standing wave phenomena in your room… of course you need to measure repeatedly until you find the best average result…write the numbers down.
